Drinks Reception Entertainment

Drawing at a Drinks Reception once, I asked the Best Man if I could take something from the sweet trolley. He turns around and gives me the two fingers! Of a KitKat I mean. Nice guy.

TIP: If you’ve booked entertainment for your drinks reception, let the hotel know in advance. I’ve often arrived to surprised faces, moving chairs around last minute. When the space is prepped, we can start early and entertain your first guests.

I'm a live caricature artist — ready to add fun memories to your big day. If this sounds like something your guests would enjoy, get in touch!

Advice if you are getting a caricature artist at your Wedding Drinks Reception

At a recent wedding‎, I told the priest I was fascinated by his mass (86kg).

Seriously though, working in wedding entertainment means I can see what works well at a Drinks Reception.

Here’s my advice :

Go Interactive: Guests love things that involve themselves. Think of those magic selfie mirrors, or book a piano player who will take their requests.

Give Keepsakes: Something as a take-home memento always seems to be appreciated. Particularly among close friends, and family.

Make It Personal: Add touches that make reference to your own story, maybe like custom cocktails?

Timing: Put on some entertainment for when the guests are waiting, like when you are off doing photos.

I’m a Live Caricature Artist, I can tick all the boxes above, and add an extra bit of laughter to your day. If you’d like your guests to arrive for the dinner with smiles and sketches, get in touch. The jokes might be bad, but the drawings will be nice.

The best part of being a Wedding Caricature Artist

The element of surprise. Guest arrive, grab their drinks, and then I go on the hunt for someone brave enough to start us off. Once that first drawing is done, a queue usually forms in no time.

Sometimes when the bride and groom finally make their big entrance after the photos, they spot me and go "Oh I forgot we booked this!". It's moments like these that make the day extra special. Surprise turning into smiles.

I can help make your big day unforgettable!

"Will a Wedding Caricature Artist make us all look ridiculous?"

No! It's not like the caricatures in newspapers that are having a dig at politicians. Live wedding caricatures are about fun, not insults. My aim on the day will be to give every guest a drawing they’ll love, something funny and unique.

A caricature artist gets to know when to go for the big laugh, and when to keep it light. Every wedding I get a few guests telling me they are going to get this framed! And even the rare one who says they don’t really like theirs? You can usually spot them sneaking it home at the end of the night. It grows on them.

It’s all part of the magic, a fun, unforgettable wedding keepsake! IF you are looking to add some joy to your big day day, get in touch!

(and I'll take a photo of all the sitters and email them to you)

Caricaturing the guests at Drinks Reception in The Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny

Wedding of Niamh & James. This was a hot day and they had an ice-cream stand, which was a nice idea. I did about 2 hours during the drinks reception which is the usual, from 3pm until the dinner gong goes, and after that I just finish off the last few stragglers. So hopefully every guest who wanted a drawing got one.

Live Wedding Entertainment

At the drinks reception of Ger and Niall, in The Abbey Hotel, co Kildare. Live caricatures are a great way to keep the laughter flowing, and fill the time between the ceremony and the dinner. And everyone gets something to take home as a keepsake and reminder of the day

Wedding Entertainment

Beautiful sunny day at the Westgrove Hotel in Clane, for the wedding of Tracey & Paddy. I was there for the drinks reception. As the weather was so nice I set up outside on the terrace.

Unfortunately in a lot of the photos I took, the bright sun washed out the drawing. I hadn’t thought of that. Oh well, live and learn.

I still got a few nice photos. And everyone who wanted a caricature got one I think, which was the important thing.

I received an email enquiry the next week that started with “You were recommended to me by the Westgrove Hotel”, which was nice of them.

Live Caricature Drawing (Corporate Entertainment)

I spent a day drawing the staff in DHL Swords, as part of their Staff Appreciation Week.

I realize now that I need a better camera, or maybe a lesson in how to take photos on my phone?
