For this commission I looked up photos online of the restaurant where he proposed, and used them as a reference to draw the scene. And the background is made up of places the couple had visited, such as Venice and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Unique Engagement Gift Idea
When someone orders an Engagement Cartoon I often suggest getting the background done as a sort of “collage”. With a few locations that are meaningful to the couple.
So here we have Powerscourt Waterfall & Edinburgh Castle. Also included are a reference to him being a baker and her a paramedic.

“Many thanks for your reply re my friend's engagement present. I am attaching some pictures of them both and also of the background where the engagement took place.
I am wondering if it is possible to include a sign post pointing to Mallow, Ballinascarthy, Myrtle Beach and Galway in it? (Significant places that they met and lived etc)
They are both quite sporty and active aswell? Marie in a red top as it is her team colour.

“I got a caricature picture from you a few months ago and loved it. Was hoping to get another one made if possible. They got engaged in Times Square so could you put that as the background? She’s a guard so could you have her wearing the uniform, and have him in a Mayo jersey?”
[I replied - For the Times Square background there will be billlboards, so we will need something on them. So can you think of some products that are relevant to the couple? I'll put a Mayo flag on one of them. Anything else you can think of?]
“Great idea with the billboards. So she is from Galway and he is from mayo , so you could have the 2 flags, or they are both very into Gaelic football so you could have a picture of Sam McGuire cup with both flags on it? I can't really think of any products, maybe Corona or Supermacs , she was big into rowing so maybe a picture of people rowing?
Could you try put an advert saying 'Mundy playing live tonight 18th march 2017 in Copperface jacks, with special guests Martha Coyne and Eoin Sweeney' if you could fit it!”

“It's an engagement caricature I'm looking for. I have attached the photos, you can let me know if you need better ones or not. I have also attached a photo of him with his team mates it's the only photo of him with the goalie jersey. It’s the white with number one on it.
So I was thinking could you do beach background him down on knee with ring and with jersey on and maybe a hurley and helmet somewhere in it. Would it be possible to put the black top on her that she is actually wearing in the picture and white leggins because that’s what she was wearing on the day.
Could I get the date put in 21st of May 2018 and the place Torrevieja, Spain somewhere, or put in “congratulations on your engagement”. I will get the A3 size”

He had a box done up with scrabble letters saying "Mammy will you marry Daddy" and there were two teddies in it with the names Evan and Ethan in it see pick below. Is this something you can incorporate in the picture?”
